Avu, The New City - Gov. Okorocha

"Avu is the new city". Gov. Okorocha declared... "Avu is the new city, light has come to Imo State and darkness can no longer take hold of this state".

Gov. Okorocha made this statement as the good people of Avu, Owerri lead by Chief Ogbonaya paid a courtesy visit to the Governor thanking him for the development brought to their town.

He also appreciated their visit and support to his vision in transforming Imo State for the better and urged them to manage the development that has come to their community.


He mentioned the new Mechanic Village, Military Hospital, Relocation of Police head quarters/ New International Market and a housing Estate as part of the development, he also pleaded with the people to allow government to earmark the new city and give necessary documents assuring them such development would add value to their land and cautioned against land racketeering.
The high point of the event was the presentation of the regent, Chief Mike Okere to the governor as the heir apparent to the throne of Avu.
In the vote of thanks, Chief Fidel Onyeneke commended the governor and stated, "my presence here is enough indication Avu is happy and proud of your leadership.
