Army, Police, Civil Defense Block Douglas Road

The main issue is not whether relocating Ekeonunwa and sanitizing Douglas Road is a good policy. The issues are;

1. Has the government collaborated well with the stakeholders towards a timeline of actions and activities?

2. Have the traders been allocated shops in the new markets? Can they afford it? Who built the shop? Government or private developers?

If you stop one poor woman from displaying her wares and she goes to the new market and asked to pay N2Million to non-traders who now parade allocation papers or shops, is that not grave injustice? Soon their kids would  e going back to school, how would they cop? Planning and clarity of vision is the key here. Not a fire brigade approach.

The traders must be given allocations and standby ready shops to relocate. No family should ho hungry at this harsh economic weather arising from the poor planning of the relocation. Ndi Owerri Nchi Use must be adequately consulted and briefed of government plans. That's the only way government can win this argument.
